Perros-Guirec with children: our ideas for days out

Perros-Guirec is an ideal destination for families: sandy beaches, rocks to clamber over, birds and seals to spot, and plenty to do when the weather turns. Here are our ideas, tried and tested by our guests.

The beaches

• Trestrignel, a 5-minute walk from L’Anse Bleue, is a sheltered cove that’s lovely for children.
• Trestraou is lifeguarded in season, with its seafront, ice-cream stalls and sailing schools.
• Saint-Guirec, in Ploumanac’h, with its oratory on the beach, is a picture-postcard setting.

With the tides, the beach changes by the hour: at low tide, the rock pools are perfect for spotting crabs and shrimps. Please respect minimum catch sizes and put the rocks back where you found them.

Outdoor adventures

• The Sept-Îles boat trip: the shorter, non-stop cruise is often enough to delight the little ones. See our guide to the Sept-Îles.
• The customs officers’ path: a short version, from Trestraou to the Mean Ruz lighthouse, is manageable for confident walkers. See our guide to the path.
• Kayak and paddleboard hire in Ploumanac’h, for children accompanied by an adult.

Places to visit

• The Trégastel marine aquarium, set among the granite rocks near Coz-Pors beach, is a great way to discover coastal wildlife.
• The Radôme park in Pleumeur-Bodou, home to the Cité des Télécoms and the Planétarium de Bretagne: interactive exhibits for all ages, ideal on a rainy day.
• The Village Gaulois, also in Pleumeur-Bodou: check opening days before you go.

At the house

L’Anse Bleue has been designed with families in mind: a travel cot, a high chair and a baby bath are all available, the garden is enclosed, and the self-contained studio gives grandparents or teenagers a space of their own. More details on the accommodation.

Our tips

• Pack rain gear for everyone: a shower needn’t stop a good walk.
• Book ahead for boat trips and watersports activities in summer.
• Check the tide times to plan beach days and rock pooling.
