What to Do When It Rains on the Pink Granite Coast?
In Brittany, rain is part of the trip, and it rarely lasts long. Here are our ideas for enjoying Perros-Guirec when the sky clouds over, indoors and out.
Indoor visits
- Trégastel Marine Aquarium: coastal wildlife, in a building nestled among the pink granite rocks.
- The Planétarium de Bretagne and the Cité des Télécoms, both at the Parc du Radôme in Pleumeur-Bodou: enough to fill half a day, for kids and grown-ups alike.
- Perros-Guirec’s cinema and casino, on the Trestraou seafront.
Treat yourself
- The Trestraou thalassotherapy centre: heated seawater pools facing the beach, with day access depending on the package.
- L’Anse Bleue’s hot tub: it works in the rain too, and the view over the bay in changeable weather is often more spectacular than in full sun.

Heading out anyway
- The coastal path (sentier des douaniers) in a light drizzle: the pink granite becomes more vivid when wet, and the path is almost deserted. Sturdy shoes and a raincoat are a must. See our guide to the path.
- Ploumanac’h harbour and its cafés, for a warm break between showers.
- Lannion, about twenty minutes away, with its half-timbered houses and shopping streets.
Getting the right gear
A good raincoat makes all the difference. If you came without one, our seaside clothing shop Horizon Marin, on the Trestraou seafront, stocks raincoats, striped tops and jumpers for the whole family.
The smart move
Check the hour-by-hour forecast: in Brittany, a rainy morning often gives way to a lovely afternoon. Save the beach or the boat trip for when it clears up, and the sightseeing for the showers.
